Lorde Nails Her Response To What Feminism Means To Her On 60 Minutes

When you're mega-famous, you can essentially do, and say, what you like. Songstress Lorde has gained major respect online after her appearance on Australian show 60 Minutes, where she was interviewed by Allison Langdon.

Amongst other topics, feminism came up, with Langdon pointing out how female celebrities are questioned or criticised about their relationship with feminism, whether that be in terms of either their personal or professional lives.

Posing the question to Lorde, Langdon asked: “Feminism is a word that gets thrown around a lot these days, what does that mean to you?”

Naturally, Lorde bossed it, starting by saying, “it's totally not about me.”

“It's about all women - women who might not have the privileges that I have - trying to fight for better conditions and better treatment of all women. Whether that be trans women, or women of colour, or women in professions that don't typically get a lot of respect.”

“No one needs to fight for me to have an OK run, I'm going to be fine. There are women who don't have a voice, or who have a voice but don't have anyone listening to it. That's what it's about.”

It's nice to see that someone with such a huge platform acknowledging her privilege and showing just how incredibly woke she is. As it's said time and time again, if your feminism isn't intersectional, it's not feminism, and Lorde is 100% with us on that.
