10 Gender-Neutral Skin And Haircare Brands You Should Definitely Know About

More and more beauty brands pop up every single day, and it can be hard to know what you actually do need for your hair or skin, and what companies are just trying to sell you for the fun of it. Now, brands are stepping up and flowing more with the times, celebrating unisex or genderless products that can be used by everyone. With the aforementioned influx of emerging brands, this list is by no means definitive, but here's a list of brands which range in price points and all specialise in gender-neutral skincare and/or haircare:

1. Meant

A post shared by Meant (@meantsimply) on

Meant describes its products as 'hardworking, multipurpose body care products that nourish your skin and simplify your routine'. All products are made with natural and organic ingredients, and their branding style matches their motto, “Simple does it.”. They describe themselves as “gender-inclusive care for all.”

2. ASARAI

The Aussie beauty brand was inspired by nature, and they firmly believe that good things come in bright packages. Real bright. Their super yellow packaging will be the drop of sunshine you need in your skincare collection.

3. Panacea

Panacea is the K-beauty brand you didn't realise you needed. With the popularity of Korea's beauty industry growing at a rapid rate, it can be confusing what to get. Panacea consider themselves a cut above the rest, as their combination of ingredients simplify an otherwise lengthy skincare regimen.

4. NGS (Non Gender Specific)

You can't get a brand name any more genderless than that. They call themselves “the brand for every human”, and their story talks about how their founder, Andrew Glass, eschewed gender boundaries. “The beauty of NGS is that we promote individuality and believe in gender equality for all identities, whether it's male, female, or one of the other 71 known gender identities.”

5. Everyday Oil

Everyday Oil is a one man - or product - band, but its abilities are multifold. Its natural ingredients and unisex fragrance make it a skincare winner for everybody.

6. Eir

Eir is a New York based organic skincare line for those with active lifestyles, and was founded by a former surfer who began studying green medicine whilst recovering from a sports injury. The products are “therapeutic blends of premium, wild-crafted herbs and essential oils” and was named after the Norse goddess of healing. Plus, the brand is produced locally in Brooklyn, with all ingredients biodegradable, cruelty-free and paraben-free.

7. Buckler's

Buckler's first product, Chapped Skin Remedy, dropped back in 2011 when creators were looking for a decent moisturiser that would help rescue their skin in winter. It's been praised multiple times, and its range has become multipurpose for everyone.

8. Mr. Smith

Mr. Smith is the Australian hair brand that's winning over beauty gurus around the globe, as well as being frequently used on both runways and in fashion editorials. Products are created with essential oils and botanicals, are sulphate and paraben-free, plus they're PETA certified.

9. Malin + Goetz

Malin + Goetz's no nonsense approach to skincare takes the stress out of what can often be a confusing routine for those with limited beauty knowledge. All products cater to all genders, and there's a large focus on sensitive skin, too, which will please many who struggle to find suitable products.

10. Clark's Botanicals

Founder Francesco Clark worked at Harper's Bazaar when he suffered life-changing injuries after a diving accident that left him unable to walk or sweat. During his recovery, he found it hard to deal with his breakouts and turned to his father - a doctor trained in traditional Western medicine and homeopathy to help to create a product, which eventually became Clark's Botanicals as we know it today. All products are sulphate and paraben-free and aren't tested on animals, or use any animal byproducts.
