Monday Hustle: The Office Eight, As Told By The Office US Cast

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day last week and spreading love, we don't want to exclude our fellow colleagues who we spend every weekday with for most of the year, every year. You probably know each other better than some of your family members, and whether you like particular co-workers or not, you may be familiar with these types of characters in your workplace - either one person embodies one singular characteristic, or a mixture of many! Here are the general Office Eight that you can find in most workplaces with some help from our friends from The Office US:

1. The Foodie, as played by Stanley Hudson

As soon as an email about free food goes out, or those afternoon biscuits for the team are opened, they're the first to dive in. They love to talk about the great food in their life and making everyone else in the office salivate.

2. The Jobsworth, as played by Dwight Schrute

They may try to micromanage you and tell you exactly how to do your job. Or when you get something wrong, they're first to gloat in your face and recite all the rules, regulations and policies. Then they get the credit for when the problem is fixed. Loves to make people squirm by hovering over them to check that the work is being on time and reminding you what will happen if it isn’t.]

3. The Class Clown, as played by Jim Halpert

Needed to lighten the morale when it's down and everyone needs a good break. What can start as a good one liner can kick-start an afternoon of hilarious banter and put a smile on your face. May not take work seriously, but is a good balance to have around. Just mind they aren’t too much of a distraction.

4. The One That Gets It, as played by Pam Beesly

May become your work bestie. They're on the same level as you completely. They understand your work and your woes, and you can often communicate just by looking at each other.

5. The Weird One, as played by Michael Scott

Perhaps they just don’t click socially, have no social skills at all, or just try to be funny and their jokes leave awkward silences. That’s okay if that’s who they are, but you just can’t have a conversation with them without a weird topic coming out that you just can’t relate to. Keep it to small talk.

6. The Shy, But Sweet One, as played by Phyllis Vance

Usually very adorable and kind and wouldn’t say boo to a goose. Perhaps doesn’t talk much or join in with the banter initiated by the Class Clown, but does their job well and always has a smile on their face, and responds to small talk when it is directed at them.

7. The Realist, as played by Darryl Philbin

They tell it like it is, period. They will call out the bullshit in the team meeting. They will tell you to your face what's happening and when you're being a dick. They will tell the boss what they think. They will get shit done.

8. The Romantic, as played by Kelly Kapoor

They're always having relationship troubles, or always talking about their relationship a little too openly. Or come in crying over their own drama. It’s okay to show emotion, but when it'sa distraction most of the time? That's not the type of novel you’d like to read. You’re more into Stephen King than Sophie Kinsella.
