Kylie Jenner's New Merch Is Under Fire For Plagiarism

Kylie Jenner's New Merch Is Under Fire For Plagiarism

Keeping up with the Kontroversy (sorry, not sorry) is getting increasingly difficult/boring when it comes to what Kylie Jenner is up to that just seems to piss everyone off.

Her latest venture as independent business woman hasn't *quite* gone according to plan. New additions to The Kylie Shop include camo two-pieces that New York brand PluggedNYC seem to have already made their own, and creative director Tizita Balemlay isn't impressed.

Tizita took to her Instagram with a selection of images featuring PluggedNYC's camo two-pieces and blasted the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan for using her privilege to try and steal the spotlight from a company that came from nothing:

🔌 Them: Did you invent Camo?
Me: Nope, but I sure as hell brought it back to life and pushed the two piece Camo movement. I can't remember one brand that sold matching Camo two pieces that weren't generic tees with cargo for ladies before my brand, unless it was custom. But hey... money is power smh I started my brand with pennies funny how someone can just take a whole movement bc of how much money and power they have.

There's also been reports that Tizita posted email chains between herself and someone claiming to work for Jenner on her Instagram story, requesting various custom pieces months before Kylie released her own camo collection. If these claims are true Kylie could be looking at (yet another) lawsuit. Ouch.

To add insult to injury, before all this Kylie was accused of cultural appropriation, with people pointing out that her two-pieces looked uncannily similar to the outfits as seen in Destiny's Child's 1998 music video for Survivor. It's not the first time she's been attacked for taking credit for trends that stem from black culture and claiming that she "invented" them.

It looks like a slightly rocky road ahead for Kylie Jenner and The Kylie Shop if these accusations continue, but whilst she's raking in however-many-million a week, it's doubtful that she'll take too much notice. Have a look for yourself - simply inspired by or a total rip-off?
