This Lingerie Brand Has Teamed Up With Artists And Body Positive Pioneers To Create A New Project Surrounding The Perception Of Women

Plus-size lingerie and swimwear brand Elomi has created a new thought-provoking project that is combining art, fashion and body positivity in order to make people question how society's perception of women is only ever skin deep.

The Elomi Portrait Project was born after the brand partnered with five influential artists -  Zoe BuckmanSam Cannon,  Suma Jane DarkJordan Sondler, and Camila Rosa - who were asked to create one-of-a-kind portraits that would give those who viewed it a deeper insight into women's equally one-of-a-kind perspectives and stories. Teaming up with artists individually and appearing and/or inspiring the portraits were five pioneers within the body positive world: Nicolette MasonChastity ValentineEssie GoldenChanté Burkett, and Kristine Thompson

As well as art and fashion, The Elomi Portrait Project used data from IBM Watson - who collected and analysed online date from each of the influencers, including blog posts, spoken pieces and interviews - which gave deeper understanding of each woman, her more prominent personality traits, her core values and the emotions that she most regularly expresses. Then, a combination of IBM Watson's data analysis as well as human analysis was used to provide a fuller view of each influencer, and each artist received a character narrative of their muse in order to inspire their art.

Whilst it all sounds very high-tech, the artwork that was created as a result was incredible. Just a couple of examples, here's Suma Jane Dark's interpretation of Nicolette Mason:

The brand said that the Project is aimed to shifting perceptions of women that go no further than being defined by their appearance, and celebrates every other part of their stories. 'For us, the Elomi Portrait Project is the start of the journey,' said Laura Simon, CMO, Wacoal Europe. 'It's about telling Elomi Stories in the most creative and engaging way. You will see as the months progress and into the new year there is more to come from the brand.'

The artwork was opened to the public yesterday from 10am to 7pm, and it's guaranteed that for those lucky few who got to see the Project for themselves, it was an amazing experience!
